Iranian film ‘Butterflies Live Only One Day’ has been competing at the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan.

‘Butterflies Live Only One Day’ is Mohammad-Reza Vatandoust’s second directorial production.

The flick experiences its first international screening at the Asian Cinema Competition Section of the Japanese screening event.

The film follows an old woman who has taken a vow of silence and talks to no one. She only has one big goal: To receive the government’s permission to enter the island as someone is waiting for her there. But after 13 years, an entry permit has not been granted to her.

‘World War III’, directed by Houman Seyyedi, is another Iranian representative at the event.

The film has been selected as Iran’s submission for best international feature at the 2023 Academy Awards.

The event is currently underway from October 24 to November 02, 2022.
